Based on a book my husband and I read (he remembered way more than I did about it!), this series tells the tale of a neighborhood heading towards the end of gentrification. A store owned and run by Pakistanis is one of the last hold-outs of the old ‘hood, and one of the homeowners has lived more than 60 years in her home. Of course, there is also the new generation with their updated kitchens, etc. And then the first set of postcards arrives without fanfare: a photo of a home with the caption “I want what you have.” But the home is the specific homeowner’s house. At first everyone dismisses them as real estate agents looking for a sale, but as more arrive with more specific details of each home and its occupants, the neighbors compare notes to try to figure out who is sending the cards. With conflict involving illegal immigrants and supposed terrorists on the street, the novel addresses the craziness that is government policy these days. A compelling, timely series, 🎥🎥🎥🎥
