Red Notice. US. Netflix

Since this movie was rated highly on Netflix, I decided to give it a whirl. It’s an action-adventure heist, complete with muscled Dwayne Johnson, snarky Ryan Reynolds, and brainy-gorgeous Gal Gadot. A precious set of Egyptian eggs has been separated over time, and new clues point to the location of a long-lost one. Into action spring thieves Reynolds and Gadot, with FBI agent Johnson added into the mix. Double-crosses and fake identities ensue with plenty of action, moving from one capital city to another. Fun, mindless entertainment. 🎥🎥+

The Chestnut Man. Denmark. Netflix

I bought this novel through Book Bub and noticed that there was a Netflix series available based on it. After reading and enjoying this Scandi-noir police procedural, I was ready to watch the series, which didn’t disappoint.  A woman is found murdered; she is missing an eye and a hand, and a figure made of chestnuts is found nearby. At the same time, Rosa Hartung, Denmark’s social minister, is returning to work a year after her daughter’s kidnapping — the daughter has never been found. Naia Thulin is tasked with investigating the crime, and she’s saddled with Max Hess, who has been moved to the police force after embarrassing himself while working for Europol. As the body count rises, the two detectives find a connection with Rosa Hartung, and the chase is on. Well-done adaptation of the novel. 🎥🎥🎥🎥
